Thin it with alcohol when necessary for spraying, or apply it to wood with a pad using the French-polish method. Clean brushes and tools with alcohol. After the varnish has fully cured, gloss can be reduced carefully with 4\/0 steel wool, 800-grit sandpaper, or pumice.
