English Yellow Chalk Paint® by Annie Sloan is a vibrant, historic yellow rooted in 18th-century decorative arts. Inspired by old wallpaper pigments and traditional craftsmanship, this joyful hue is both timeless and spirited. It’s the color of gilded light on parchment. A golden bell ringing in a quiet hall. The unexpected warmth of joy passed through generations. Use English Yellow to bring boldness to antique styles or a cheerful kick to modern pieces. It pairs beautifully with dark wax for patina, or white for a fresh spring feel. No sanding or priming required—just dip in and let the sunshine pour. English Yellow can be paired with a variety of colors to achieve different moods and styles. For a bold look, try pairing it with Napoleonic Blue or Emperor's Silk. For a more subdued palette, combine it with Duck Egg Blue or Old White. To create a vintage vibe, pair English Yellow with Antibes Green or Arles. And for a modern twist, combine it with Graphite or Paris Grey. With Annie Sloan's range of complementary colors, the possibilities for creating a unique and beautiful space are endless.
What It Is
Annie Sloan Chalk Paint® is a water-based decorative paint for furniture, cabinetry, walls and creative finishes. It can be brushed for texture, smoothed for a cleaner finish, layered, blended or distressed depending on the project.
How to Use It
Begin with a clean, dry and sound surface and stir thoroughly. Many surfaces need little preparation, but glossy, unstable, stained or bleed-prone surfaces may need sanding, priming or another problem-solving step. Test a small area first, then apply one or more coats as needed.
Coverage, Sizes & Finish
One litre covers approximately 140 square feet, and 500 ml covers approximately 70 square feet, depending on the surface and application. Sizes currently offered: 120 ml Project Pot, 500 ml (16 oz), and 1 litre (36 oz).
Sealing & Care
Protect Chalk Paint® with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint® Wax for most indoor furniture and decorative projects. Choose Chalk Paint® Lacquer when the surface needs a hard-wearing lacquered finish, including floors.
Good to Know
Color changes with light, surrounding finishes and screen settings. A project pot is the most reliable way to test the color on your actual surface before beginning a larger project.
