Delft Traditions
Paint Inlay, 8 Pages, 12”x16”, Single Color
Available in two colors, Azure and Noir, Delft Traditions draws inspiration from authentic Delftware, a type of tin-glazed pottery that originated in Delft, Netherlands, in the 17th century. The inlay showcases intricate floral patterns, pastoral scenes, and classical motifs, all hallmarks of Delftware.
For those pining over the authentic vintage Delftware in boutiques and antique stores, this collection makes that timeless beauty attainable and affordable.
Project Suggestions:
-
Furniture: Delft patterns go well on drawer panels or as vignette elements for door panels, or knob accents.
-
Small Decor: Decorative plates for wall or hutch display, Jewelry boxes, French style toiletry jars, French-style gourmet gift jars, candles, lamps, vases, and flower pots.
-
Wall Art: Faux salvaged delft tile in shadow box frame.
Why You’ll Love It
The coordinated 17th century, delftware, dutch, faux tile, floral bouquets, and garlands create an authentic painted finish rather than the surface look of a decal. Each sheet can often produce a softer second impression, and sometimes a third, depending on the paint, technique, and remaining pigment.
More Info
DELFT TRADITIONS NOIR IOD PAINT INLAY 12X16 PAD™ is an Iron Orchid Designs Paint Inlay made with proprietary artist-quality paint. It is not a decal or printed film: the design is embedded into wet paint and remains movable with water until the finished project is sealed.
Size
8 sheets, 12 × 16 inches each.
How to Use
Apply a generous, even coat of compatible mineral-based chalk-type paint to a prepared surface, working in sections no larger than the inlay sheet. While the paint is wet, place the inlay design-side down with the printed grid facing up. Lightly mist the back with water and pat it into contact using a smooth damp sponge, soft folded cloth, or small IOD Silicone Paint Blade; do not drag the sheet. Allow it to dry to the touch. Mist evenly again, wait about 30 seconds, then peel the paper away slowly at a low angle. If it resists, mist again and wait before continuing.
How to Care For
Let the finished design dry completely—24 hours is the safest guideline—then seal it because the pigment remains water-reactive until protected. Use a compatible water-based sealer, artist’s fixative followed by a compatible finish, or wax; test products together before use. To reuse a sheet, lay it flat pigment-side up until completely dry, place protective tissue between saved sheets, and store it flat in the original packaging at room temperature away from moisture.
